When I first met my wife, I had recently finished the basement at my old house, and expressed my desire to build some kind of train layout. Originally, I was thinking of building a small Lego layout or HO-scale train. Sarah proceeded to buy me an O-Scale model train as a gift, not anticipating how serious I would take the hobby. While the train scale was bigger than I expected, I proceeded to build an 8 foot by 8 foot layout, complete with buildings, landscaping, tunnels, and a butte. Unfortunately, the scenery did not travel well in the move to our new house, and the space was eventually needed for more growing Lego town and MOCs.
